Welcome to our blog! We’re so glad that you found your way over here. We know that you have lots of options when seeking out information on mental health, and we’re grateful for the trust that you’re placing in us just by visiting our page.
As a thank you, we’ll do our best to deliver information that we truly believe will be useful to you! Here’s what you can expect from our blog moving forward.
Our goal is to provide you with:
1) Education and information about mental health.
Whether it’s for you or your loved one, we believe that knowledge is power. We’ll tackle common illnesses (like anxiety, depression, trauma, and more!). We will share how to identify them by the common signs and symptoms. We’ll debunk commonly held misconceptions about mental health and/or specific illnesses. We imagine you might be asking yourself questions like:
“How do I know if I have depression (or anxiety, etc.)?”
“Is this normal/healthy?”
“Do I need professional help for this, or is this something I can manage on my own?”
“What is anxiety and where does it come from?”
“What is the difference between guilt and shame?”
2) Practical tips, tools, and techniques to address mental health issues.
Once you feel empowered with the information about mental health, we’re big believers in providing you with actionable steps to make progress on these issues. We’ll offer you coping skills, relationship-building techniques, and suggestions for helping your loved ones who may be struggling. We’ll talk about how to develop a better relationship with yourself through self-compassion and self-confidence. And to top it off, we’ll provide you with our favorite external resources (books, workbooks, podcasts) that will help you on your journey! We imagine you’ll be asking questions like:
“How can I grieve the loss of…(a loved one who passed away, a break-up)?”
“How do I help a loved one who suffers from…(fill in the blank!)?”
“What can I do to decrease my anxiety/panic attacks?”
“How can I improve my sleep?”
“How can I feel better about myself?”
“How can I improve the quality of my relationships?”
“What can I do if I think have an addiction?”
3) An understanding of the therapeutic process.
We recognize that not everybody has been to therapy. And for those who have been to therapy, not everybody has had a positive experience. We want to provide you with useful information about therapy, therapists, and the therapeutic connection. We hope to answer questions like:
“Is what I’m sharing in therapy confidential?”
“How do I find the right therapist for me?”
“What types (modalities) of therapy would be the best fit for my situation?”
“How do I talk to my therapist if counseling doesn’t seem to be working?”
“What’s the difference between online therapy and in-person therapy?”
“I’ve tried therapy before. Why didn’t it help?”
We will continue to grow this space and develop it in response to your questions, comments, and needs! In order to best serve you, we ask that you reach out to us if you have specific topics or questions that you would like to see addressed on our blog. What would you most like to see on our blog?
